Our senior Vet, Miss Cara Golden, has her GP Advanced Cert in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery, Post Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery, GP Cert in Small Animal Surgery and is currently finishing her GP Diploma in Soft Tissue Surgery. She has been performing referral standard surgery for approximately 25 years. The GP Diploma in SASTS will make her the first person in the UK to have an STS Diploma in general practice.
We also work with a peripatetic (ie visiting) Orthopaedic Diplomate and European Recognized Specialist, Mr Hannes Bergmann, who operates alongside us on a regular basis – usually several times per month.
Advanced soft tissue surgeries performed regularly by Cara include major tumour resections, reconstruction, BOAS procedures, intrathoracic surgeries, perineal herniae, TECA/LBO, VBO, laryngeal tiebacks etc.
Orthopaedic procedures are undertaken by both Cara and Hannes, with them working together for the more advanced surgeries. These include CBLO/TPLO/TTA for cruciate rupture, patella luxation repairs, fracture repairs, hip replacements and spinal surgery. Arthroscopic surgery is also available for certain conditions including for elbow dysplasia.
Laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgical equipment has been ordered and will be in use where appropriate in the very near future (Summer 2020)
