Radiography / Endoscopy

Our imaging room (or toy room, as Cara prefers to call it) is equipped with a ‘bucky’ table, x-ray generator and a BCF Carestream Vita CR processor, which links directly into our computer system.  This means that when we take radiographs, we can view them anywhere in the practice.  There are also multiple sizes of x-ray plates, meaning that we can get detailed pictures of the correct areas, enabling accurate diagnosis and planning, together with the specialist programs on the computer.  The dental x-ray generator and processor are separate to these machines.

The toy room also contains the endoscopes. We have 3 main systems – the large flexible video-endoscopes on their tower, with a diameter of 8-12mm which can get into stomachs etc; the smaller flexible video-endoscopes which link into an ‘overgrown tablet’, going down to 4 mm in size – perfect for chest examinations and up noses, behind soft palates, bladders etc, and the smaller rigid scopes – great for bladders, ears, noses and several other areas.  We also have video-otoscopy, where another camera goes into the outer ear – much as the handheld ones do in the consult room, however recording the images.
