Ultrasound

We actually have 2 ultrasound machines – a small, handheld machine for kennel side applications, which also often goes on its travels to Warsash or on house visits, and the large Eosote, all singing and dancing machine, complete with multiple probes.  This allows really detailed examination of many organs in a totally atraumatic way.  We do sometimes have to sedate our patients for this – not because it is painful, but because they have to stay still for protracted times occasionally.  It is necessary to shave a wide area usually as sound waves do not travel properly through an air interface, so a hair free area and generous quantities of gel are required.

Robin Peal is our advanced practitioner in cardiology and imaging (see advanced services), although all of our vets will do basic ultrasound.

In an emergency, please contact us and then come straight down to the clinic.

By contacting us, we can talk you through any first aid necessary, and can also alert the clinical staff of your impending arrival.

Out of Hours, you will be redirected to our emergency service.  There is an emergency line bypass on our phone system.

Emergencies will always be prioritized.
